  • USI attended WIT Students’ Union class representative council and a Repeal the 8th debate hosted by WIT FLAC society.
  • USI hosted a meeting in IT Blanchardstown for Students’Union Officers to discuss policies and motions for USI Congress 2017.
  • USI held a National Council meeting in IT Blanchardstown where Students’Union Officers discussed campaigns, academic affairs, welfare, equality and national issues.

Students’ Unions come #Out4Love ahead of the Assembly Elections in March

Policy and Campaigns:

  • The Vice President for Welfare attended the Students Sport Ireland Board meeting.
  • USI pledged support to students in Northern Ireland ahead of the Assembly Elections on March 2nd and demanded candidates come #Out4Love.
  • The Vice President for Equality and Citizenship attended an Association for Higher Education Access and Disability (AHEAD) board meeting to discuss students with disabilities
  • USI pledged support to campaign on the issue of increasing car insurance.
  • The Vice President for Equality and Citizenship attended an European Network Against Racism (ENAR) Ireland meeting regarding racism on campuses.
  • The Vice President for Equality and Citizenship attended the first LGBT Youth Strategy Oversight Committee and made a number of reccomendations on behalf of students.
  • USI met with the Wheel to discuss a timeline and plan to comply with the Governance Code and become even more transparent.
  • Everything was finalised with the HSE, Think Contraception, Health Ireland and other partners on SHAG 17 before the campaign was set to launch.
  • Vice President for Equality and Citizenship travelled to Brussels to a European Students’ Union (ESU) seminar on refugees and higher education.
