Student Leaders Gather for USI Seminar

Leaders from student unions around Ireland will gather today (July 19) in Galway for the USI’s annual Union Organisation Seminar (UOS).

The week-long event is taking place at the Galway- Mayo Institute of Technology from July 19th- 24th.

At the seminar, student delegates from colleges nationwide will undergo essential training and skills development, which is designed to provide them with the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to carry out their role as effectively as possible.

Modules at the seminar will include skills development in the areas of: Negotiation; Campaigning and Lobbying; and Marketing and PR.

Also being delivered is a plethora of student education and welfare specific topics, including Alcohol & Drug Awareness, Housing Issues, Eating Disorders and Sexual Health workshops.

USI is the sole national representative body for over 250,000 students from colleges nationwide. The organisation endeavors to represent and serve its student membership to the highest standards at all times.

 “USI is delighted to welcome student union leaders and officers from across the nation to this important Union Organisation Seminar. It is vital that USI provides the highest level of ongoing training to its sabbatical officers.

We work continuously to develop the skills of officers in the student unions of Ireland and to equip them with the tools necessary to guide their students through what is set to be a difficult fiscal year ahead.”
