Seoladh ‘Cearta Teanga: Treoir do Mhic Léinn’ in éineacht leis an gCoimisinéir Teanga  Rónán Ó Domhnaill i mí Márta 2020 mar chuid d’Fheachtas AMLÉ ar na Cearta Teanga agus Seachtain na Gaeilge.

Is í aidhm an leabhráin ná eolas a thabhairt do mhic léinn maidir lena gcuid cearta teanga faoi Acht na dTeangacha Oifigúla 2003.

Tá eolas istigh ann faoi na háiteanna gur féidir le mic léinn seirbhísí trí Ghaeilge a lorg ar champas chomh maith le stór focal le muinín a thabhairt do dhaoine nach bhfuil mórán Gaeilge acu seirbhísí Gaeilge a éilimh.

Leis an leabhrán seo a chur le chéile tá súil go dtabharfar eolas do mhic léinn maidir leis an obair a dhéanann Oifig an Choimisinéara Teanga agus iad a spreagadh comhairle a lorg nó gearán a dhéanamh leis an gCoimisinéir Teanga má cheapann siad nach bhfuil a gcuid cearta á aithint ag comhlacht poiblí.

Sa leagan digiteach den leabhrán tá nascanna do na scéimeanna teanga in aon institiúd tríú leibhéal atá bainteach le AMLÉ.

Cearta Teanga: Treoir do Mhic Léinn’ was launched with Language Commissioner Rónán Ó Dónaill in March 2020 as part of USI’s Irish language Rights campaign and Seachtain na Gaeilge.

The guide aims to inform students on their Irish language rights under the Official Languages Act 2003.

The guide also contains information on where students can access services in Irish on campus as well a a list of vocabulary in relation to language rights to encourage students without much confidence in Irish to seek services in Irish.

By creating the booklet, we also hope to inform students on the work of the Language Commissioner’s Office and to encourage them to go to the Language Commissioner if they feel their rights are not being recognised by a public body.

The digital version of the booklet also contains links to the language schemes in each third level institution affiliated with USI for students to see what provisions are made for services through Irish on campus.
