'AMLÉ' (Aontas na Mac Léinn in Éirinn) is the new name for the Union of Students in Ireland. It's a direct translation. It came into effect on 13 May 2025. The rebrand reflects the desire of the organisation to promote the use of the Irish Language.
USI was renamed 'AMLÉ' (Aontas na Mac Léinn in Éirinn) on 13 May 2025. The rebrand reflects the desire of the organisation to promote the use of the Irish Language. The translation of 'Aontas na Mac Léinn in Éirinn' to English is 'Union of Students in Ireland'.
AMLÉ, is a confederal organisation comprised of its member students’ unions on the island of Ireland. It is not a company nor is it a charity. It is governed by its Constitution.
Policy is made by students themselves, who are sent as delegates of their Students’ Unions, at AMLÉ Congress. Congress is the supreme authority of the organisation.
LAMLÉ is a a Type C organisation and is committed to obtaining the full status of the Governance Code. AMLÉ are registered as being on the journey on www.governancecode.ie.
