The National Council of the Union of Students in Ireland is the executive body of the Union. It is representative of the member Students’ Unions – each one sends a voting member to the National Council.
National Council may form interim policy for the union, which holds until the next scheduled Congress.
The members of the USI Officer Board, including the President, report at each National Council – in effect, accounting for the work that they have done as USI officers to the students of Ireland.
In addition to the main business of National Council, the day before National Council contains meetings of working groups, committees and commissions which feed into the work of the Union.
National Councils are held in member colleges, with each Students’ Union bidding to host the meeting. Members of the Officer Board are accommodated in budget accommodation nearby.
