Students are to take further action over the coming days to see the release of Ibrahim Halawa in light of the Egyptian government delaying the imprisoned 21 year old’s trial for the 22nd time today. USI President Annie Hoey stated, “There have been 18 trial delays, and Ibrahim awaits his along with over 400 others​. He spent his 21st birthday in jail. Future Focus Campaign Launch in partnership with USI, HAYS Recruitment and Enterprise Ireland

The Union of Students in Ireland (USI) launched the first ever student ‘Future Focus’ campaign on graduate employability and entrepreneurship today (Friday, March 7th) at 12pm in the National College of Ireland (NCI).  The campaign, in partnership with HAYS Recruitment and Enterprise Ireland, will consist of three components: A new graduate jobs website providing advice to students and graduates on their CV, Cover Letter, Interview Skills, Social Media and Rights as a Worker, as well as a graduate jobs platform to assist students in finding employment. The launch of the USI Student Summit 2014: Student entrepreneurs will be ‘invading’ Dublin Castle on April 8th.

USI welcomes establishment of new body which aims to reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness

  The Union of Students in Ireland has welcomed the establishment of a new body, The National Taskforce on Youth Mental Health, which aims to increase awareness of, and reduce the stigma surrounding, mental illness. According to the Mental Health Reform’s ‘A Vision for Change’, there was an 8% increase last year in the waiting list cases in the Children and Adolescents Mental Health Services (CAMHS) from the year before.
