Irish psychoactive drugs users in 15-24 year age group are highest in Europe

  The Union of Students of Ireland in partnership with Drugs.ie and the HSE have launched a new harm reduction information campaign aimed at people who use new psychoactive substances (NSP)*.  The use of psychoactive drugs in Ireland among the 15-24 year age group is the highest in Europe (22% lifetime use). The recently released European Schools Survey Project on Alcohol and other Drugs (ESPAD) from 2015 indicated that among 15-16 year olds across 35 European countries the average lifetime use was 4% while in Ireland it was almost double at 7%. USI Launch Online SHAG week as Report shows a 22% increase in Syphilis with 24 men diagnosed per woman

  The Union of Students in Ireland has launched its online SHAG (Sexual Health Awareness Guide) week, urging young people to get into the habit of getting tested regularly, after a HSE report showed an increase of 22.1% in Syphilis from 2014 to 2015. Early infectious syphilis diagnoses were 2,290% higher in men than in women with 24 men diagnosed per woman. Cost of college passes €1,000 per month: Students respond

Further increases in the costs of third-level would be ludicrous in light of ILCU survey, says the Union of Students in Ireland New research commissioned by the Irish League of Credit Unions suggests that the cost of college bills will continue to increase past the €1,000 mark for the upcoming academic year.
