USI is #TogetherAgainstRacism with INAR

[…]President, Lorna Fitzpatrick said: “Today, we are joining INAR and supporting the #TogetherAgainstRacism campaign. USI joins INAR and all its members in calling for an end to racism, xenophobia and far-right ideologies and we stand in solidarity with those affected.  “For many years USI has been leading social change and working on social justice issues. Today, we also want to reiterate our support for INAR’s #LoveNotHate campaign to call for the introduction of hate crime legislation in Ireland. This should include the best legislative protections for all groups affected by harms caused by violence and other crimes directed at people’s […]

USI and TCDSU respond to Provost call for fees

[…]backgrounds, who are generally much more debt averse, face in making the decision as to whether they can afford to attend college. Whilst USI has had no formal relationship with Usit Travel for a number of years, we enjoy working with the firm and hope that the legacy of this cornerstone of the Irish travel market can yet be saved. […]

USI backs calls by disability activists for the Government’s Green Paper on Disability Reform to be scraped

[…]attend today’s protest and support students with disabilities and disabled activists in general. The proposals in the Green Paper will negatively affect people who are on Disability Allowance, and other such payments. It is also completely wrong to talk about putting people into ‘tiers’ in order to decided what support they should get. “USI, along with our members, calls for the Disability Allowance be increased to cover the cost-of-living in Ireland. But the most important thing that disability activists and their supporters are demanding is proper inclusion in the preparation of plans that will affect their whole lives. There must […]
