A new beginning

On the day USI waves goodbye to its home in Crumlin, we present this new website, which we’re calling 5.01 beta. We hope you like it better than the last one. Our new physical address is: USI Ceann Áras na Mac Léinn Portview House York Road Dublin 4 The roadmap for the site This site is firmly in Beta testing mode – There are whole sections not yet implemented and some surprises coming, but we’re now testing real-life use of the site.  In the coming weeks, you’ll see: Direct student consultation A section for each member organisation (MO) Dedicated section for […]

Redeveloping the website

The USI website gets quite a bit of traffic – we pull in around 94% of our viewers from Ireland and the UK (mostly from Northern Ireland).  We’re fairly extensively linked to and we attract an enormous amount of spam. All of this makes developing and managing the site somewhat complex – but rewarding when viewership increases due to changes to the site. We’re already seeing some small evidence of that today. The new design aims to put the stories we think will interest the rest of the world in our work – we have an external readership focus for 80% […]

[…]environment, and we have created an environment for them that is saturated with alcohol – it is cheap, widely available and they are also exposed to a huge amount of alcohol marketing and advertising, which is such a powerful influence on their drinking behaviour,” said Ms Costello. “However, 18-24 year olds are also acutely aware of the impact of anxiety, depression and self-harm on their contemporaries and increasingly recognise binge drinking as a major contributing factor to poor mental health. All I want for Nollaig na mBan

[…]I need and should have available here in Ireland. Or unless I can illegally import some abortion pills- something that holds a potential 14 years imprisonment if I get caught.
